IPL to begin on April 9

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, March 7: Indian Premier League (IPL) returned to India after nearly two years. The IPL Governing Council on Sunday announced the schedule for VIVO Indian Premier League 2021. The championship would be held in six cities- Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata.
The season will kick off on April 9 in Chennai with a match between defending champions Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad will host the Playoffs as well as the final on May 30.
Out of the 56 league matches, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata and Bengaluru will host 10 matches each while Ahmedabad and Delhi will host 8 matches each.
Meanwhile Riyan Parag and his team Rajasthan Royals will start their campaign in the competition against Punjab Kings on April 12 in Mumbai. Chennai Super Kings in their opening game will face Delhi Capitals in Mumbai on April 10. Sunrisers Hyderabad will take on Kolkata Knight Riders in their first game in Chennai on April 11.
