New body of soccer coaches formed

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, June 2: A new organization named- Association of Assam Football Coaches- was formed in the city yesterday. AFC license holder Bidhan Das and Mantu Boro would be the president and general secretary of the newly formed association. Pradip Brahma and Chinmoy Bora named the vice president and treasurer respectively.
The committee also included six former footballers and coaches as advisors and they are: Tosen Bora, Gilbertson Sangma, Debashish Roy, Ganesh Rai, Juel Bey and Subir Dey.
Bidhan Das, the president of the Association of Assam Football coaches, informed, “Initially we want to work in two areas. Our aim is to increase the number of qualified coaches at the grass root level and also to introduce uniform coaching pattern across the State.”
Commenting about their plans Das said, “Once the situation turns normal and sports activities begin we will organize two-day classes in each districts of the state. Our experts are preparing courses in the line of AFC. We will approve the course by the Assam Football Association and the All India Football Federation before the start of the classes. At the initial stage anyone who has knowledge in football and is interested to become soccer coach are welcome to our classes.“
