Guwahati among 6 venues for Mushtaq Ali

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, Aug 31: Guwahati will host the league phase of Syed Mushtaq Ali Cricket tournament which will kick off on November 4 in six different venues. It will be a good opportunity for the cricket lovers of the city to witness some quality cricket as top teams like Mumbai, Bengal and Karnataka will travel to Guwahati to play in the championship.
According to the detailed programme of BCCI the group stage will be held at Lucknow (Group A), Guwahati (Group B), Baroda (Group C), Delhi (Group D), Haryana (Group E) and Vijayawada (Plate Group) from November 4-9. Delhi will host the knockouts from November 16 to 22.
Assam however will not get the chance to play their league matches in home ground. They are placed in Elite Group ‘D’ and Delhi will host the matches of this group.
Meanwhile Ranji Trophy Cricket championship will return after a gap of one year due to COVID-19 pandemic. This year the competition will begin on January 13. The league phase will be held in six different venues- Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahamedabad, Thiruvananthapuram and Chennai. Kolkata will host the knock stage of the tournament including final.
Assam, feature in Elite Group ‘A’, will face Gujarat, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Services in the league phase. The matches of Elite Group ‘A’ will be held in Mumbai.
