East Zone Kho Kho begins on Saturday

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, March 30: East Zone Kho Kho Championship will be held in the city from Saturday. The tournament will kick off at the South Point School with joint collaboration of Sapta Renu, a socio Cultural organization, South Point School and Assam Kho Kho Association. The president of the organizing committee Krishnanjan Chanda today informed the media that around 300 players from 10 states will participate in the 20th edition of the meet. The teams which confirmed their participations are Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Sikkim, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, West Bengal and host Assam. Except Sikkim the other teams will participate in both men and women section. Sikkim will play only in the women category. Meanwhile the preparation of the state team is currently going on at the Sarusajai Sports Complex. Supriya Gogoi, the SAF Games gold medal winning member of Indian squad, will lead Assam in the forthcoming Competition. The media briefing was also attended by Aftab Hussain and Gobinda Kalita, the secretary and joint secretary of the Assam Kho Kho Association, along with president of the Sapta Renu-Utpal Sarkar and secretary of East Zone Kho Kho Association Madhushudan Singh. The Annual General Meeting of the East Zone Assam kho Kho Association will be held in the city during the meet.
