Nisilia pumps in 11 goals, her school wins 25-0
SHILLONG, Oct. 30: Nisilia Majaw of Umthli Secondary School proved to be the star of day in the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports football tournament here on Monday as she pumped in as many as 11 goals against a hapless St Francis De Sales Secondary School. Umthli Secondary School won the one sided tie 25-0;
Nisilia scored at an astonishing rate of a goal per 5 minutes to drive her school into the finals of the School Girls competition here at the JN Stadium. Umthli Secondary School will clash with Christian Union College Higher Secondary School, who also comfortably beat Brookside Adventist Higher Secondary School 6-0 victory, for the title.
In the Senior Boys’ category, Shillong College Higher Secondary Section and St. Anthony's High School moved towards a summit clash after winning their respective semifinal encounters.
Nisilia began her scoring spree in the opening itself and was virtually unstoppable as she found the back of the net at will. She was particularly rampant during the initial (1st, 3rd, 13th, 17th) and closing (53rd, 55th, 57th, 58th) phases of the match. She scored her remaining three goals in the 22nd, 37th and 45th minutes.
St Francis absolutely had no time to recover as Betsheba Kharsyntiew (9th, 15th, 27th), Wandashisha Mawrien (12th, 16th, 28th), AidarisKharmalki (40th, 52nd, 60th) and Aitihun Majan (44th, 45th, 57th) helped themselves to a hat-trick each.
Marbarin Nongrum also made her presence felt, adding a brace herself.
Antihun Thangkhiew turned out to be the hero for Christian Union College, pumping in three goals. She scored in the 15th, the 37th, and the 41st minutes toget past Brookside Adventist.
Fenisha Syiemlieh (45th, 47th) and Philakynti Nongbri (28th) were the other goal poachers for the victorious side.
The Senior Boys’ semifinals were also high-scoring affairs with Shillong College and St. Anthony's High recording 13-0 and 6-1 victories.
