Tauhid guides Kamrup in final

Online Staff, GUWAHATI, March 9: An all round performance from Tauhid Ali Talukdar guided Kamrup into the final of the All Assam Veteran Inter District and Inter Institutional Cricket Championship thrashing Sivasagar by 9 wickets in the first semi final at Tinsukia today. Sivasagar, elected to bat, scored 79-9 in their 15 overs. Raju Bharali remained not out on 19 while Utpal Saikia (18) and Apurba Gogoi (15) were the other major contributors. Tauhid Ali Talukdar, Bhaskarjyoti Barman and Mukut Kalita bagged two wickets each however Tauhid was most economical among the trio. In reply Kamurp reached the target losing the wicket of opener Mukut Kalita (17). Tauhid remained not out on 33 and he was giving accompany by other opener Ranjan Deka (28) when Kamrup scored the winning score on 12.1 overs. In the other match of the day Dibrugarh entered into the semi final defeating Guwahati in a nail biter by 5 runs. Dibrugarh will now face host Tinsukia in the second semi final tomorrow.
