Veteran cricket: Bijon scores fastest century
Online Staff / GUWAHATI, March 5: Bijon Dutta entered into the record book of Assam Veteran Cricket Inter District and Inter institutional cricket competition scoring the fastest century of the meet in Tinsuika today. The innings also helped Tinsukia to won the tie against Advocate XI by a huge margin of 80 runs and booked a berth in the semi final.
Invited to bat, Tinsukia scored 151-3 in their 15 overs. Bijon, who was in attacking mood from the very early stage of his innings, took just 59 balls to score 100. During the innings the batsman hit 11 boundaries and four sixes. Prasanta Kalita, 2-17, was the most successful bowler for Advocate XI. In reply Advocate XI scored 71-8 in their 15 overs. Narendra Prasad bagged three wickets giving away four runs and Devajit Saikia, the top scorer of Advocate XI, remained not out on 18.
The other match of the day was washed out because of inclement weather. The fate of the game was decided via toss and Sivasagar won it against Naharkatia.
